If you missed the 1st weekend of August, you have another chance on the 3rd! Experience daily activities on a working ranch as you visit with living history interpreters.
Special activities at Ranching Weekend may include historic cooking, music, quilting, carpentry, roping, gardening, saddling, and blacksmithing. Programs begin at 10 am and 2:30 pm, on Saturday and Sunday. 2 miles north of Strong City at the Tallgrass Prairie National Peserve. 620-273-8494.

I'll have to make it out there sometime to the tallgrass preserve. I stayed at the Stone House B&B one weekend, which backs to the preserve and had the most wonderful morning walking around the tallgrass.
That is why I keep reminding folks of the opportunities. Thanks for stopping by, and leaving a note! ;-)

One of my ancestral lines comes from Maryland, Charles and Prince George counties... what county are you in?
I visited around Bryantown in 1992, to see the area. Very nice. Hope to return for another visit in a few years.
